in the flames
our old love letters
curled up together 訳/ 吾らの古いラブレター共に炎を巻き上る古い手紙を焼くという歌詞はいささか常套の批判を受け易いが、この句ではcurled up togetherで心をうたれた。加えてジトウィッツ先生はリズムの良さをも褒められている。「他人を感動させるにはまず自分が感動せねばならぬ。そうでなければ如何に巧みな作品でも決して生命はない。」ルソー

big sunflower 訳/ 夏空はほほえみ大向日葵にふり返るシンプルな構成ながら、夏の情景の美しさをよく表現しており、また、Sの音が句全体に心地よいリズムを与えている。

a quiver full of children 訳/ 子沢山の家族それぞれが一羽の雀もつける呼び名quiver full of childrenは子沢山の家族を意味する熟語。一羽の雀にそれぞれが呼び名をつけている子宝一家がたのしく描かれている。
