red poppies crushed
by a wood cart 訳/ 仕事日…赤い芥子の花は木挽車に踏みしだかれ休日の静寂が破られた仕事日の森へ行き帰る木挽車、その轍に散る赤い芥子の花を詠ったもの。平明な描写の背景に、森に働く人々、伐採音、森の道、森への道、そこ此処に咲く芥子の花などを彷彿とさせる奥深さがある。句のリズムのよさもピーターセン先生が褒めておられる。

like ballerinas 訳/ やわらかい風が月光に舞うバレリーナのようにそれぞれのイメージがうまく調和しており、英語のリズムもよい。とても可愛らし句です。

whistlin' with the wind 訳/ しわくちゃのティーポット…祖母の物置小屋の傍で風に鳴りひびいている西欧的な情景に俳諧的な味をにじませている練達の句。祖母への思いが巧まずして味わいを深めている。
